Didactic poems that motivate you in life | "Love, Life and Everything else" by Tapan Ghosh

“Love, Life and everything else” by Tapan Ghosh really encompasses ‘life’ in its totality. It shifts and adjusts according to the puzzling ways of man, and while doing so, turns out to be an interesting motivational discourse on self-development and personal contentment.

“What the heart craves, the mind often rejects

The truth the mirror shows, man never detects

What your love desires, your reasoning suspects

Ignorance blinds us, while light around us reflects

Tenderness of the heart, peer pressure often affects

But when you balance the two, bliss connects….”

This collection discretely divides itself under two kinds of poems: one, on the various aspects of human life; and second, on the poet’s romantic interests. Giving off very uplifting and inspiring vibes, the first section of the collection becomes largely didactic. They talk about the essential values that people require to exist, contemplating over the core qualities which enable us to live a better life. The poet emphasizes on self-involvement and the philosophies of life that give way to a brighter future. It encourages and urges us to let go of any kind of fear, and swim in the crystal-clear waters of hope, faith and ambition. In an attempt to motivate its readers, the poems preach to lay the foundation of confidence and belief. They sow the seeds of optimism and happiness, and teach us ways to emerge victorious in navigating through life.

If you are looking for simple, honest verses which will push you to deliver and take a step forward in your ambitions, this book is definitely worth reading. I found a very comforting paternal touch to the poems, an it added to the advisory role they were playing. The peace that comes with getting accepted with our flaws, the solace of getting advised before we fall off the edge—it all swirls and materializes partly through the writing.

The other category of the poems which speak of love and romance, sees a stark contrast to the earlier poems. Here, the poet seems to be dazed and superfluous with the idea of love. He, of course, goes on giving lessons on fulfilment and motivation in this part too. But here the words appear to be more liquid and more inclusive. It feels closer to life and experiences a closer proximity to understand life, and not just advice on it.

“Love is purer in solitude

Physical presence is just a reality check

A full-blooded kiss may not have

The love behind an innocent peck…..”

Coming with simple yet impactful verses, the poet’s attempt is really worth recommending. He fills his poems with superfluous positivity, due to which the poems turn out to be bright and inspiring. The metaphors which have been used, are down to earth and easy to grasp. It avoids unnecessary complications and comes right to the point within moments of the poem’s commencement. However, a scarcity of empathy in the verses could be noticed. There could have been a proper conceiving of the harsh realities that life comes with, and this could have made the poems more tangible. Nevertheless, this collection of poetry is recommended if you are searching for some inclusion and solidarity in your life.
