A bullet of thrill and mystery

When I Find You by Shalini P. Sawkar

RATING: ★★★3/4  (3.75/5)

When Vidya gets working on her new job, she cannot help but raise a suspicion on her new boss Nikhil. Surprisingly enough, none of the present employees have been working for more than four months....what must have happened exactly four months ago in that office? Nikhil leaves for Bangalore to attend a conference, but keeps his whereabouts hidden. Just when he returns, the death of a previous employee shocks Vidya...could Nikhil have anything to do with it? What secret is Nikhil trying to suppress?

Although the is extremely short, it carries the essence of a full-fledged thriller. The secrecy that is maintained throughout makes the readers engrossed.

The mystery aspect of the book isn't overdone. Justifying a short story, the author hasn't tried to engage in too many sub-plots, she rather focuses more on the main plotline. The number of characters is limited...but they are developed satisfactorily well. There is a bit of open-endedness to the story, which I liked. Having said these, I also must say that the climax of the story was predictable to an extent. There could have been more plot twists to further intensify the storyline.

If you love reading mystery and thriller stuff, but you aren't up for a long read...then you can pick this book up. If you like stories based on personal prejudices and revenge, this book is a good recommendation!
